HIKING: Benton MacKaye Trail 25: Straight Fork Rd. to Davenport Gap

← TN NOLICHUCKY RIVER NOLICHUCKY DAM TN Triple Blaze →

Description

The 25th and final section of the Benton MacKaye Trail runs the last 18 miles of its total 288 from Straight Fork Rd. to its northern terminus at Davenport Gap.

The Benton MacKaye is one of the wildest long-distance backpacking trails in the nation. Unlike the A.T., the B.M.T. eschews cities, shelters, parks, and campgrounds wherever possible and instead opts for as wild and pristine of a route and experience as possible. It runs a total of 288 miles.

Note: the Google Maps location given is Davenport Gap, the northern terminus of the BMT, not the southern beginning of this section.

Directions

In the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It starts on Straight Fork Rd.
